1955 Pontiac

1955 Pontiac Star Chief convertible, owned by Joe Busch of the Twin Cities for more than 20 years. It is powered by the original 287 cubic-inch engine and Hydramatic transmission (GM early three-speed). While the paint isn't original, the colors are, Bolero Red and Castle Gray (an off-white). Wheels are 15" factory originals, while tires are Coker whitewalls in 215/75 x 15 size.
The interior is stock and reupholstered to match what it looked like when it came off the line. This car was built from two bodies. A hardtop forms the chassis and lower body, which supports the original convertible parts. (The fabric top is a late-model reproduction.) The owner says he's invested a lot of money and it's not done (to his complete satisfaction). Still, it's a great looking work in progress.
